Community Assessment Action Plan
With the EPA funding, Humboldt County will identify whether a property planned for redevelopment has been environmentally impacted.
This process includes:
- Inventory and prioritize candidate properties for assessment
- Select the highest-priority redevelopment sites for assessment
- Assess properties for reuse or redevelopment which may include collecting and analyzing soil, groundwater, or surface water samples to determine if a property requires cleanup
The focus of these assessments will be the railroad corridor, the downtown corridor, targeted industrial sites, underutilized county/city property and rural gateways of Orovada and McDermitt.
Grant funds also will be used to conduct reuse planning, cleanup planning if a site requires cleanup, develop downtown/gateway revitalization strategies and conduct community involvement activities.
